Breastfeeding

1. To make pumping more effective, pump between feeds, not immediately after feeding.

2. Before pumping, give your breasts a warm shower or compress - this will stimulate the flow of breastmilk out of the breast.

3. Place a picture of your baby in front of you or express the milk in their presence - eye contact with the baby stimulates lactation. Do not express in case of stress or fatigue - that hampers the flow of milk.

4. Check the correct attachment of the individual parts of the breast pump (see instructions for details).

5. Place the nipple deep into the breastshield and press the massage pad against the breast so that it touches the breast thoroughly and no air is leaking out. Otherwise, pumping will not be effective. Do not remove the massage cap from the breastshield - it stimulates the flow of milk.

6. Start pumping with breast stimulation: press the handle using shallow, fast movements. You don't have to press your hand to the end.

7. When you notice that milk is starting to flow, start deep pumping: press the handle to the end and release it after approx. 2-3 seconds. You will notice that milk is flowing steadily from the breast. This slower, deeper pumping imitates a baby's breast sucking rhythm.

8. Breastmilk will flow faster if you lean forward during pumping (often in this position, when mother has an overcrowded breast, milk drops flow out of the breast even without pressing the areola). However remember, that the position in which you sit should be comfortable for you.

NO, Canpol babies breastshields are in one universal size. It is possible to remove the massage overlay, so that the diameter of the breastshield will increase.

No, unfortunately there is no such possibility. The breastpump can be connected to only one body, which enables pumping breastmilk from one breast.

NO, in our offer we have maternity lingerie in various sizes, but only in white.

Bottle Feeding

Choosing the right teat size (flow) of the feeding teat is very important and you should keep this in mind when buying a bottle. There are six types of tips available on the market, their size is marked with numbers from 0 to 5 and is visible on the packaging:

  • 0 mini - the teat with the slowest flow; intended for children under 6 months of age.
  • 1 slow - teat for the first milk; intended for children under 6 months of age. It can also be used for tea and juice for children over 6 months of age.
  • 2 medium - teat for children from 6 to 12 months of age. It can also be used for tea for children over 1 year of age. It is worth remembering that at this age a child can already drink juice and tea from a cup - e.g. training cup with a special mouthpiece.
  • 3 fast - a soother for children over 12 months of age who still like to drink milk from a bottle. Remember that for dense foods we do not recommend this soother - the opening is too small.
  • 4 cross-cut - the soother is perfect for dense foods, e.g. soups or milk porridge.
  • 5 tri-flow soother for children over 3 months of age. By positioning the soother with the appropriate marking on the baby's nose, you will achieve the correct flow: slow, medium or fast.

Canpol babies offers teats made of silicone or latex. Due to the different properties of these raw materials, silicone and latex teats have different characteristics:

  • Silicone teats are transparent, taste and smellless. They retain their original shape even after prolonged use. Silicone feeding teats do not change the taste of food.
  • Latex (or rubber) teats are brown in colour and have a delicate rubber smell. Like silicone teats, they are durable and resistant to biting. Thanks to the fact that they are flexible, they easily adapt to the child's oral cavity. Their disadvantage is that they darken under the influence of sunlight, so they should be replaced frequently - preferably every few weeks.

At present, parents usually buy silicone teats. However, some children do not like them. It is best to observe which teat is more suitable for your child. Read more about soothers in the tips: How to choose a feeding teat?

WE DO NOT RECOMMEND HEATING BABY FOOD IN MICROWAVE OVENS. They heat up unevenly and therefore the food is can be too cold or too hot in various places. In addition, the heat vawes deprive it of valuable vitamins and minerals.

If, however, it is necessary to heat up a bottle in the microwave oven, remember that the possibility of using the  bottle in a microwave depends on the material it is made of. Canpol babies offers bottles made of safe, BPA-free materials such as glass, polypropylene and tritium.

  • Glass bottles can be used in a microwave (for heating up food); they appear under symbols: 42/101, 42/102, 42/201, 42/202, 42/602, 42/601.
  • The polypropylene bottles can be used in the microwave (for food heating) and appear under the symbols: 59/200, 59/100, 56/200, 56/201, 59/205, 35/224, 35/225, 35/228, 35/229, 35/226, 35/227, 35/218, 35/219, 35/216, 35/217, 35/205, 35/206, 35/204, 35/220, 34/221, 35/222,
  • Tritanium bottles cannot be used in the microwave; they appear under symbols: 11/840, 11/850, 11/845, 11/823, 11/841, 11/851, 11/810, 11/820, 11/815, 11/821, 59/205, 59/200,

All bottles can be viewed in the product section Bottle Feeding.

During daily cleaning, feeding and sterilization, the bottles get scratched and can worn out. Microcracks in the walls collect microorganisms that can be dangerous for the health of the child. Therefore, according to the recommendation of specialist doctors, bottles should be replaced after about 3 months of use.

Prints are made according to a special technology so that during the recommended period of use (about 3 months) - provided that they are cleaned and sterilized in accordance with the instructions for use included with the product - they do not rub off from the bottles.

Glass bottles - prior to the first and every subsequent use, the bottle and its elements should be thoroughly washed and then sterilized in a steam/electric sterilizer or boiling water. After use, the teat and bottle should be cleaned of food, rinsed and then washed with hot water. Cooking and hard water may leave residues  (see instructions for use).

Polypropylene bottles - Before first use, the disassembled parts of the bottle and teat should be cleaned and placed in boiling water for 5 minutes. This is to ensure hygiene. Cooking longer than recommended and hard water can cause residues. Clean the bottle and teat before each use and rinse with hot water. Do not boil. It is not recommended to wash the bottle and teat in a dishwasher, as detergents/cleaners may cause damage to the product. Do not use any disinfectants (see instructions for use).

Tritanium bottles - boil only prior to first use (no longer than 5 minutes). It is recommended that you wash, rinse or pour boiling water thoroughly before each subsequent use to ensure sufficient hygiene. Do not boil or sterilize in a steam/electric sterilizer (see instructions for use).

The scale shown on the heater refers to the heating power and temperature of the heater (water temperature). The heating mode is adjustable and depends on several factors, i.e. when the first point on the scale is selected (low heating power), the water heats up more slowly and therefore the heating takes longer than when the second point on the scale is selected (higher heating power) or the third point on the scale (highest heating power).

See the manual.

The heating time depends on several factors: the initial temperature of the food, the type of food (milk, porridge, jar dish; liquid food heats up faster), the amount of the food (125 ml, 250 ml) and the material of the dish inserted into the heater (plastic, glass; food in a plastic vessel heats up faster).
When a 125 ml bottle of food at 20°C is placed in the preheater and the highest power is selected (third point on the scale), the food is heated to the correct temperature (approx. 40°C) within approx. 5 minutes. However, if the food is removed from the fridge (its temperature is about 5°C), the heating time will be extended by about 1 minute (the total heating time will then be about 6 minutes).

See the Canpol babies Bottle Warmer instructions.

There are no strict guidelines as to the age at which you should stop bottle feeding your baby. However, most paediatricians recommend that this should be done before the age of 18 months. This is the most convenient moment because the child will not have time to establish a habit of drinking from a bottle and it will be easier for them to part with it. Moreover, by this time, the baby starts to walk and is more interested in getting to know the world than in the way they eat.

Depending on the weather conditions and the bottle temperature, the thermo-packaging maintains the temperature even up to 2 hours (it does not replace a thermos).

YES, thermo-packaging is not specifically profiled for Canpol babies bottles, so you can put most of the bottles or food containers in it.

NO, unfortunately in our offer we do NOT have wide-neck glass bottles. However, we have traditional glass bottles: 42/102, 42/101, 42/202, 42/201, 42/602, 42/601.

Drinking From a Cup

At the beginning it is best to choose a training cup equipped with:

  • soft spout (6m+) that does not irritate the baby's delicate gums and teeth
  • low flow, so that the child does not choke on too much liquid
  • two handles that make it easy to grab and hold the cup.

You can choose from our offer, for example, cups with symbols: 56/512, 35/207, 35/208, 56/514.

You can also reach for the training bottle (replace the teat with a mouthpiece). However, you should buy a soft mouthpiece - suitable for a beginner child (marked with the symbol 6m+ on the package):

  • A soft spout with the symbol 56/600 fits into all Canpol babies wide-opening bottles.
  • For all standard (narrow) Canpol babies bottles, the soft spout 21/505 fits.

Please read our tips on how to learn how to drink from a cup: When to reach for the cup? And How to teach the baby to drink from a cup?

The training cup is intended for children learning to drink independently, during the transition from breastfeeding / bottle to drinking from the mug / glass cup. Therefore, the training cup should be equipped with:

  • The spout suitable for the age of the child:
    • soft - for children 6m+ (cups with symbols: 56/512, 35/207, 35/208, 56/515)
    • harder - for children 9m+ (cup: 4/108, 31/212, 31/213)
  • low flow, so that the child does not choke on too much liquid
  • two handles that make it easy to grab and hold the cup.

Training cups may or may not be non-drip caps.

The non-spill cup is designed for children who have already mastered independent drinking and, as the name suggests, has a non-spill function. Our offer includes a wide selection of non-spill caps.

Please read our tips on how to learn how to drink from a cup: When to reach for a cup? and How to teach the baby to drink from a cup?

NO, remember never to leave your child alone when drinking from a training cup. The baby may choke during this time, so someone should supervise him/her at all times.

No, unfortunately not all spouts can be purchased separately.

Baby Care

No, all thermometers of Canpol babies:

  • bathing
  • to measure body temperature

are made of completely safe raw materials and free of mercury.

Soothing

The shape of the disc depends on the type of teat. Soothers with orthodontic teats have traditional discs (with one-sided nose cut-out), while soothers with round or symmetrical teats have discs in the shape of an eight (with a two-sided nose cut-out).

The disc, regardless of its shape, should enable the child to breathe freely through the nose. All Canpol babies soothers have discs with a cut-out for the nose and ventilation holes (see the SOOTHING product section). The disc should also be adjusted to the size of the toddler's mouth.

There are also teats with discs in the shape of a circle available on the market. We do not recommend using them, because such a disc in most cases presses the baby's nose.

There are no standards as to when we should wean the baby off a soother. However, the speech therapists recommend, that the farewell to the soother should take place at the latest when the child is 1.5 years old and already has most of the teeth. In this case, the long-term sucking of the soother should be limited, as it can have a negative effect on the child's occlusion, pronunciation and speech learning. It is up to the parents to decide whether or not to loose the soother, but regardless of age, care must be taken to ensure that this is the right time for the baby. This should not be done when the baby is ill or stressed.

NO, unfortunately we do not have such soothers in our offer. The size range of our soothers is as followes: 0-6m, 6-18m, 18m+.

No, unfortunately not every pattern/collection of soothers is available in both silicone and latex soothers. We have separate collections for silicone and rubber soothers, differing in rubber and age range.

Teething

All Canpol babies teethers are made of completely safe materials, free of phthalates and Bisphenol A. Water teethers are filled with microbiologically pure water. Depending on the colour of the teether - it is pure water (transparent teethers) or with the addition of food dye (colourful teether). Therefore, even in the case of mechanical damage, the composition of the substance filling the toy does not pose a threat to the health of the child.

Play and Education

WE DO NOT RECOMMEND PLACING MUSICAL MOBILES ON TOURIST CRIBS. Tourist crib construction is not as stable as a traditional crib. When the baby is lying in a tourist crib, movements of materials can loosen the attachment and cause the mobile to fall.

However, if you decide to mount the mobile to a touring crib, you should always check with the shop whether the chosen (from the above) mobile fits the crib, because there is a wide range of tourist cribs on the market, different types and sizes.

In our offer there are many musical mobiles, which construction allows you to mount to a tourist cot. These are musical mobiles with symbols:
- soft musical mobiles: 2/375, 2/313, 75/100, 68/049, 68/036, 2/984, 2/348, 2/374.

All the above mentioned musical mobiles can be viewed in the product section, in the Play and Education section.

.

YES, in the Musical obile with a projector, each function can work independently.

Spare/Replacement Parts

YES, we offer spare straws sold as a stand-alone product. Thanks to that, if the straw is worn out, there is no need to replace the entire cup.

  • To the cup ref. No.: 4/112 a straw with ref. No.: 4/111 is available (2 pcs. in the package).
  • For sports cups with symbols: 4/102, 56/113, 56/109 a 56/106 straw is available (2 pcs. in the package).
  • For sports water bottles with symbols: 56/516, 56/510, 56/515 a 56/005 straw is available.

NO, we do not sell spare parts for breast pumps. They are only available under warranty.

YES, you can buy a music box without having to buy the whole musical mobile. Music boxes with catalogue number 9/001 are available in children's shops offering Canpol babies accessories. Contact details of the shop nearest to your place of residence can be found in the section Where to Buy.

Quality

NO, Canpol babies feeding accessories are made of carefully selected, safe materials and do not contain BPA. The "BPA free" sign indicating the absence of Bisphenol A appears prominently on the packaging of all Canpol babies feeding products.

Our products, in accordance with the relevant regulations, are tested both at the production site and in the quality control institutions of the products on the market. We also have our own laboratory where we carry out product tests. These include functional and mechanical tests, such as checking the capacity of feeding accessories, checking the correctness of electronic devices, toy strength tests, tests using a cylinder to test small parts or testing electrical equipment for safety.
At the same time, we emphasize that the production of accessories is based on both internal management systems and global standards ISO 9001.

All Canpol babies toys are made of completely safe, child-safe materials and comply with the essential requirements of the Toys Directive and the standards harmonized with this Directive. This is proven by the CE mark on the packaging.

Service

In case of repair, please contact Canpol babies service by e-mail and report the damage. If it is possible and it is possible to determine the cause of the failure, an appropriate spare part will be sent without the need to send back the breastpump.

In the manual that comes with the product, you will find practical steps to take to check that the breastpump is working properly.

See the manual:
